The spring and summer collections for 2016 are beautiful and cool. The cool season began in New York with chic daywear inspired by the nineties. For example the slip dress is a summer essential, according to Courrges, Balenciaga, Givenchy and the Row. The spring-summer collections in NY had a minimalistic and romantic design with beautiful lines, from the dresses by DKNY, Tibi, Thakoon, Vera Wang, Altuzzara to Givenchy and Carolina Herrera. The chic day collection by Altuzzara, for example, was made of soft white dresses with beautiful beading and Spanish espadrilles. The collections by Alexander Wang, Vera Wang and Cushnie et Ochs had a more grungy and hiphop nineties style.

The inimitable collections by Dior, Chloé, and Balenciaga in Paris had a soft and delicate style. Summer lace is a lovely luxury for another summer season, as seen by Burberry. Balenciaga’s last collection by Alexander Wang had a soft tenderness with white day dresses in cotton, silk and lace, inspired by lingerie and nineties’ coolness. Balmain had a beautiful and feminine collection of daily luxuries in beige and brown tones with emerald green, in suede and macramé.

The escapism of the summer collections in Milan was made for romantic souls. The romantic collections are set in another time and in another place, from the desert nomad collection by Alberta Ferretti, the vintage world traveller collection by Gucci, the under the sea collection by Pucci, to the nostalgic Italia collection by Dolce & Gabbana.

A day at home sleeping and dreaming is a beautiful daily luxury and can be sometimes all you need 💙. For a sleepy day at home these are my daily luxuries: illy cappuccino, croissants, fresh berries, beautiful lace lingerie in light blue or turquoise (La Perla, Intimissimi, Victoria’s secret), a long, warm bath, Dior nude and sorbet cream, Acqua di Parma, mini dresses in white or beige, a warm cashmere or knit sweater (Repeat Cashmere, Liu jo, Twin-Set, Patrizia Pepe), a lovely and cosy bed (Zara home, Riviera maison), a mozzarella or burrata salad and pizza, the Vogue Italia, España or Paris, my Nicky Bianca blog, Pinterest, listening to my music (Aaliyah), reading my books (from Maya Angelou and F. Scott Fitzgerald), watching my favorite movies (The Great Gatsby). A sleepy day at home can make all the difference in the world. Dream and love all the daily luxuries in your life 💙.

Winter luxury 💙

This winter is going to be a cool season. The beautiful winter luxuries that are in store now make you forget about summer and long for the snow. My wishlist of winter luxuries is a long one. First of all, I would love to have the lovely, winter beige Choo high top trainers and beautiful, black Valentino boots with decorative studs (Valentino, Choo, Shoebaloo). A beautiful backpack or bucket bag are the coolest bags of the season (Valentino, Liu jo, Patrizia Pepe, Paul Warmer). Secondly, the lovely Liu jo jeans and the Liu jo down jackets from the Les Plumes collection are beautiful basic items for all your winter looks (Liu jo). The warm and comfy cashmere dresses and sweaters in winter white and lovely beige are essential winter luxuries (Repeat Cashmere, Liu jo, MaxMara, Twin-Set, Patrizia Pepe). For beautiful, dewy skin you need the delicious soft Dior sorbet cream and Dior serum sorbet against the winter cold. A lovely winter makeup in beige and brown tones, inspired by the nineties look, can be created by a little Dior nude air foundation, Dior bronzer and the Dior sunkissed nailpolish (Dior).

The cool season in NY

The cool season in New York begins with fashion week. The beautiful spring and summer collections on the runway brought a cool and colorful crowd of fashion editors, bloggers and models. The bold and beautiful trends of the season were noticeable in the NY Streets. It is all about denim, high heels and cool bags. And the casual coolness and nonchalance of it all looked a little like New York in the nineties, back in the days.

Summer sadness

So while the summer is coming to an end, a feeling of summer sadness comes to me. As the schools are welcoming back the kids, offices are back in running again, and the memories of summer vacations fade away, the summer season seems to be over again. Before you know it, you are in school again or back in the office, back in the daily rhythm of life. Don’t give up on the cool summer feeling, though, this easy-like-Sunday-morning-sitting-on-the-dock-of-the-bay kind of feeling. The summer days are not over yet, and need to be spent near the sea, on the beach, and in the city parks. When the days are still warm and the evenings are becoming cool and crisp, you can still wear a lovely tee dress with a denim or leather jacket (Liu jo, Armani Jeans, Nolita), a warm cashmere knit dress over bare legs (Patrizia Pepe, Repeat Cashmere, Twin-Set), or beautiful Liu jo jeans with an off shoulder sweater (Liu jo, Maje). I remember my daily luxury when I was growing up in the nineties. I remember when I bought my first cd, Crazy sexy cool by TLC. I loved Aaliyah, TLC, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Friends, Blossom, Sleepless in Seattle and Clueless. I loved the comfort and coolness of the nineties, the long hair, natural makeup, tees and jeans. The natural nonchalance of those days is a source of inspiration for the present. These are your daily luxuries inspired by the nineties for the cool season to come:
