Paris s/s collections 2018

Oh la la, the spring-summer collections 2018 presented in the city of love and macarons are trรจs chique, feminine and sensual. The s/s collection 2018 by Saint Laurent presented at the Tour d’Eiffel was beautiful and breathtaking. The sculptured silhouette was small and chique, but also the mini dresses with poofy volume and delicate fabrics created a beautiful collection for the femme sensuelle and innocent. The spring-summer trend of (one or two) long earrings was seen in many s/s collections in Paris.

Elie Saab presented a beautiful collection for the modern Amazone.ย Lanvin went back to its roots with the cool minimalist collection of clean lines and sleek mini dresses in black and blue. Dior‘s s/s collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, inspired by the art of Niki de Saint Phalle, showed mini and long dresses in tule with an animated or written story to tell. Another s/s collection for 2018 that was chique as ever, was from Giambattista Valli, Valentino and Altuzzaraย with lovely dresses of artwork.

NYFW s/s collections 2018

The end of summer is always a little less sad with the beginning of New York Fashion Week, continuing the coming weeks in London, Milan, Madrid and Paris. Last week the most beautiful spring-summer collections for 2018 were presented in New York. NY was the perfect setting for the casual and cool, nineties inspired spring-summer collections 2018 presented to the fashion editors, bloggers, Brooklyn babies and models.

Alexander Wang had an actual streetway runway for his beautiful minimalist collection with mini dresses and a mix of nineties streetwear essentials. Oscar de la Renta‘s inimitable s/s collection for 2018 combined city chique daywear (stripes, t-shirt, denim, written words, and paint dots) with the beautiful signature dresses in delicate tule, organza and silk. Another s/s collection 2018 presented in NY that I loved, was the collection of cool oriental dresses by Tadashi Shoji, and the romantic dresses by Marchesa inspired by bygone days and faraway places.

Daily luxuries s/s 2016

The spring and summer collections for 2016 are beautiful and cool. The cool season began in New York with chic daywear inspired by the nineties. For example the slip dress is a summer essential, according to Courrges, Balenciaga, Givenchy and the Row. The spring-summer collections in NY had a minimalistic and romantic design with beautiful lines, from the dresses by DKNY, Tibi, Thakoon, Vera Wang, Altuzzara to Givenchy and Carolina Herrera. The chic day collection by Altuzzara, for example, was made of soft white dresses with beautiful beading and Spanish espadrilles. The collections by Alexander Wang, Vera Wang and Cushnie et Ochs had a more grungy and hiphop nineties style.

The inimitable collections by Dior, Chloรฉ, and Balenciaga in Paris had a soft and delicate style. Summer lace is a lovely luxury for another summer season, as seen by Burberry. Balenciaga’s last collection by Alexander Wang had a soft tenderness with white day dresses in cotton, silk and lace, inspired by lingerie and nineties’ coolness. Balmain had a beautiful and feminine collection of daily luxuries in beige and brown tones with emerald green, in suede and macramรฉ.

The escapism of the summer collections in Milan was made for romantic souls. The romantic collections are set in another time and in another place, from the desert nomad collection by Alberta Ferretti, the vintage world traveller collection by Gucci, the under the sea collection by Pucci, to the nostalgic Italia collection by Dolce & Gabbana.

Those were the days

I remember my daily luxury when I was growing up in the nineties. I remember when I bought my first cd, Crazy sexy cool by TLC. I loved Aaliyah, TLC, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Friends, Blossom, Sleepless in Seattle and Clueless. I loved the comfort and coolness of the nineties, the long hair, natural makeup, tees and jeans. The natural nonchalance of those days is a source of inspiration for the present. These are your daily luxuries inspired by the nineties for the cool season to come:

  1. Denim and a tee, cool and distressed. A mini denim skirt is perfect ๐Ÿ’™. The cool denim and tees from the Liu jo collection are beautiful! (A Liu jo store is opening in the PC Hooftstraat in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in the beginning of September ๐Ÿ’™)
  2. Soft sweaters (Armani Jeans, Patrizia pepe)
  3. Casual dresses in soft cotton and cashmere (Repeat Cashmere, Isabel Marant, Maje)
  4. Long hair, don’t care.
  5. Natural makeup in beige tones (Dior)
  6. Denim jacket and down jacket (Liu jo, Patrizia pepe)
  7. Black and white tees and tops with a beautiful lace bra (La Perla, Eres)
  8. High top sneakers (Jimmy Choo trainers are classic)
  9. Sporty and casual styled anything. Dress it all down with a baseball cap, tee, denim and sneakers.
