NYFW s/s collections 2018

The end of summer is always a little less sad with the beginning of New York Fashion Week, continuing the coming weeks in London, Milan, Madrid and Paris. Last week the most beautiful spring-summer collections for 2018 were presented in New York. NY was the perfect setting for the casual and cool, nineties inspired spring-summer collections 2018 presented to the fashion editors, bloggers, Brooklyn babies and models.

Alexander Wang had an actual streetway runway for his beautiful minimalist collection with mini dresses and a mix of nineties streetwear essentials. Oscar de la Renta‘s inimitable s/s collection for 2018 combined city chique daywear (stripes, t-shirt, denim, written words, and paint dots) with the beautiful signature dresses in delicate tule, organza and silk. Another s/s collection 2018 presented in NY that I loved, was the collection of cool oriental dresses by Tadashi Shoji, and the romantic dresses by Marchesa inspired by bygone days and faraway places.

Nuit en blanc

Dressed in white for a midsummer night, a dîner en blanc, or a lovely summer sunset, feels beautiful and chique 💙. Spanish or chantilly lace looks beautiful on bare skin, paired with nude Valentino heels or white Choo’s. Lovely lace dresses are essential summer pieces, for example in the spring-summer collections by Valentino, Burberry and Chloé. Secondly, an embellished white dress is an essential daily luxury on summer days, for example by Altuzzara. Another white dress that is very en vogue is the silk slipdress, inspired by lingerie and nineties coolness (Balenciaga, Courrges, The Row). Lastly, with a minimalist mini dress with long sleeves, you can wear a beautiful clutch and embellished heels by Choo or Acquazzura, showing long tan legs. And for your man? He needs a classic white tuxedo jacket, black trousers and classy Choo’s for Cuban vibes.

Coco Chanel in Havana, Cuba 🌺

May 3, 2016, Havana, Cuba. While Cuba is opening its turquoise doors to the world, the beautiful island invited not only Obama, the first American President to come to Cuba since 1928, but also the world of ‘moda y lujo’ to enter the colourful and vibrant capital city Havana. In the Paseo del Prado, set between the palm trees and Cuban casas, the street has become a runway for the Chanel cruise collection 2017. In a beautiful mix of old and new, the past and the present, the Chanel couture collection meets the classic imperial style of Cuba. With the Panama hats, coloured tweed jackets and midi skirts, the Chanel cruise collection 2017 is clearly inspired by Cuban history. While the masculine trousers, tweed jackets and midi skirts in the cruise collection are quintessential to Chanel, the colourful tweed in lime, coral, blue and colonial white, tropical prints and ‘Viva Coco libre’-shirts have been inspired by the Cuban setting.
